About us

(24 April 2009) Asian Connections, a powerful new marketing alliance of Asia’s best independent inbound travel operators, is officially launched today. The alliance sees the collaboration of ten travel partners covering 16 key destinations throughout Southeast Asia and South Asia:
Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Burma, Indonesia, Bali, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, China, Macau, Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Japan.

Asian Connections is the brainchild of four founding partners – Asia World based in Thailand, Tour & Incentive Travel based in Malaysia, World Express based in Singapore and DMC – THE Destination Management Company based in Hong Kong.

The alliance's sales and marketing network covers all major markets across five continents and will be co-ordinated by a dedicated marketing team based in Asia.

Each of the four partner companies is headed by an industry veteran who understands how to deliver the highest standard of service.

“Asian Connections brings together Asia’s top inbound operators, each a leading expert in their home market. We are pleased to offer our existing clients greater reach into the region through our trustworthy network of professionals, as well as amazing value. With the alliance’s added buying power, we will pass on significant value to our clients,” said Stephen McEvoy, managing director of Asia World in Bangkok.

Ms Jenny May, the managing director of DMC – The Destination Management Company, said: “With the kind of collective experience the alliance members have behind them, inbound groups are always going to be guaranteed an exclusive, unique and exciting experience. That is really important in our business. Banding together as the Asian Connections alliance means we can provide more options for clients interested in multi-stop itineraries.”

“Asian Connections is committed to ‘connecting the best of Asia’ for any single business source, including regional pre- and post-packages for MICE and multi-destination overland tours,” said Lawrence Koay, managing director of Tour & Incentive Travel, which for two decades until early this year traded under the Tour East Malaysia brand name.

Darren Tan, the managing director of World Express, which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, said: “The Asian Connections partners are like-minded people with a passion for providing creative travel programmes and quality service. Our strength is our collective expertise in the leisure, MICE and cruise segments of the industry”.

Each Asian Connections partner will retain their own independent identity and full control of their day-to-day business.
